A piece of ice core collected from the Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica in the late 70's harbored at the National Ice Core Facility travels from Colorado to NYC to visit the tourist sites of our dying city.

This the the 4th core retreived from the NSF, measuring approximately 10" L x 6" D, and transported in my checked baggage on a flight from Denver to NYC, Laguardia in February 2023.  My thought was to shoot the melting core with the live backdrop of the potential realization of its own demise - urban New York City + markets and capitalism.  Unfortunately, the weekend alloted for the trip was the coldest of all dates during the winter in NY so the melting of the core was very, very slow.  I took it to the Statue of Liberty on the ferry, to Wall Street, and to different locations around Times Square.
