Award-winning Close-Up Image, 2022, CU Boulder Biotechnology Competition

During the pandemic, I attended a truncated artist residency at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, CO.  It was here that I was connected to many scientists (via the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies) who were able to chat with me on Zoom.   I learned about all of the amazing climate and scientific research being done in and around Colorado, specifically the University of Colorado at Boulder, where I met the lovely Joe Dragavon.  Joe heads up the light microscopy lab on campus and graciously invited me to leave some of my samples outside the building where he picked them up and then met me on Zoom to go over the images live in the lab.
The following years, I got to meet and work with Joe in the lab itself, sharing many samples and learning the basics of the amazing fluorescene machines at his helm.  This led to many beautiful discoveries and a voter-award from 100's for the top 12 Close-Up Images (above), this of a single flower stamen with pollen collected in the St Vrain Glacial Basin of the nearby Rocky Mountains.
