weather station 1, february 2023
The Mountain Research Station in the Rockies of Colorado has been collecting weekly climate data from three separate elevations along the same ridge for over fifty years. In February 2023, I traveled up the mountain with the data scientists and their dog to witness the collection in real time. The snow was at nearly 6' deep in many places so we were transported by snowcat in near snow-blind conditions and tossed over by the blustry wind once or twice. I intend to travel up the ridge again this spring, summer and fall to gather more footage and present an understanding of the science for the public (to be shared in permanent art exhibit at the vistor center next Spring).
